Zagreb
On our full day in Zagreb we woke up and immediately went for some coffee on the street at a little bistro right next to the hostel. We spent most of the day walking around the town. We stopped to get some Ĩevapi which is basically like a Baltic sandwich. Afterwards we saw them shoot off the 12 o’clock canon which is literally as loud as canon because they use a cardboard canon shell. It was so loud it shook the ground around the tower from where it was fired. I fell as though they should probably be warning people to cover their ears. Afterwards we started our tour of the funny little museums around town. We started at the chocolate museum where you get a little box with 6 different types of chocolate starting with unsweetened nibs working all the way up to modern milk chocolate. The history was pretty interesting and it was nice to try the chocolate and understand the changes that came to the flavour overtime. At the end you get to eat as much liquid chocolate as you want off a spoon. A+ museum. The next museum we went to was the museum of lost tales. It basically just retold Balkan fairy tales. It was very well designed and the displays were cool but some of the stories were super boring plus no chocolate. C+. We went back where I took a quick nap and we escaped the 35 degree heat. Afterwards we went for a walk through the city botanical gardens and had a drink on the street. We had dinner at a Mediterranean restaurant with great pasta and afterwards we got gelato. Tomorrow we have the day in Zagreb before we leave to Budapest in the afternoon.
