Korcula

I woke up in Dubrovnik with sun hitting my eyes through the unclosed curtain from the night before. The Dutch men that were sleeping in our room reeked of beer and cigarettes. I sat out on the deck to enjoy the final morning in Dubrovnik admiring the large peaks above the ocean. We headed down to the ferry early. The ferry was a large catamaran that could hold about 300 people. We were heading to Korcula and the bot made a few stops at small islands on the way. It was a rather peaceful experience, looking out at the waves and the little islands as we made our way to the island. When we got into Korcula we walked a full 3 minutes to get to our hostel in the old town. Korcula has a historic walled old town. It is not very big was but was built as a sterner when the town was a small city state. The town is surrounded by the walls as well as large watch towers and rocky beaches. We had a cappuccino and a pastry out on the deck looking out at the ocean and then headed to the beach. All the water entrances are large rock faces so jumping in or going down the ladder are your only options. The water was very clear and you could see some small fish, starfish and sea urchins. We did a bit more walking around town that evening including walking up to the town viewpoint. After our scenic hike we headed down to the board walk where we had some pizza for dinner. The pizza was one of the best I have had and was quite simple just having ham, mushroom and some cream sauce on it. It was even better as we were siting watching it right next to the ocean. Korcula has probably been the most charming little town we have seen so far on the trip.
