Driving Through Senj to Plitvice

We woke up in our little bachelor apartment overlooking the ocean. We had a very nice slow morning eating some of our groceries before hitting the  road. We were heading to Plitvice next so we decided to stop in Senj along the route. Unfortunately we almost got in an accident along the road as someone came to a complete stop in the middle of the road. In Senj we parked on a crazy windy road and hiked up a Middle Ages castle that overlooked the city. We walked around the the town and got a cappuccino. To get out of Senj and make our way inland we had to do a mountain pass with several hairpin turns. It was quite exciting on the little highway with the stick shift. It has definitely improved my shifting skills as it’s the fist time I have been changing gears while also turning around a hairpin and breaking at the same time. We stopped for lunch in a little town at a restaurant right on the river. We got some groceries and arrived at our hotel in the early afternoon. We found a short hike in the area down to a blue karst well which I went for a swim in. The water was so blue and clear. It was ground water that was coming up and flowing down a river. On the way back to the hotel we stopped for ice cream.  Tomorrow we do Plitvice.
