First Day in Rome
My last day in Florence started when I packed up all I had left in my locker and hit the road. I stopped quickly to have a quick standing cappuccino with my travel bag on. I decided it was worth me seeing the duomo one more time so I took a final stroke around Florence in the rain. The train station was packed with touristos. The train was quite nice and I enjoyed sitting and looking out at the Italian country side at 250 clicks. When I got to Rome I headed directly for the hostel and dropped the bag off. I immediately decided I needed to get the touristy stuff out of the way so I walked down to the trevi fountain. It was jam packed with people it was actually quite amazing. I didn’t stay for long and decided to go and get a cappuccino and tortellini with cream and ham for lunch. The tortellini was so good and the pasta was fresh. I then walked over to the Spanish steps and went to the piazza del popolo. I have been loving all the fountains everywhere. It is so cool that there is just running clean water all over the place. I walked over to piazza navona and then to another basilica to escape the rain. I walked by the pantheon but did not go in as the lie was too long.
I stopped for more pasta and this time had cacio e pepe which was one of the best things I have had. It was just done so correctly to what it should be I was so impressed. After I had carb loaded I was back full of energy so decided to do the capitoline museum. It was very cool as it had lots of huge painted rooms, Roman sculptures and a view of the Roman forum from above. After the museum I walked up the monument to Emmanuel ii. I stopped for groceries on the way back and went out for pizza and a beer.
