Iceland May 28 2022

Today was an exhilarating day of driving for tour guide Beckett.  Last night me, and Lachlan headed over to the hot baths outside lake Myvatn.  The water smelt heavily of sulphur, but the pool was beautifully blue and had an almost slimy feel to it.  We sat there for several hours until it closed at 11pm as the sun was still up.  Today has been a mostly driving day as we drove from Myvatn to Stykkisholmur.  It was a breathtaking drive.  We stopped at multiple waterfalls along the way.  We also stopped in the town of Akureyri, a massive town by Iceland standards with a population of a whopping 19000.  We went to the botanical gardens and got stuff for lunch as well.  It was nice to be reminded that there were civilizations in some parts of the country.  We also stopped at a Viking reenactment festival where many people were dressed up as Vikings selling their homemade crafts.  We drove almost 2 hours on dirt roads today along cliff sides and down through the fjords.  We arrived in town around five.  The city we are staying in that I'm not going to try and write again is a beautiful fishing town that seemed familiar to me.  I realized that a chunk of one of my favourite movies Secret Life of Walter Mitty was filmed by its docks.  I had quite a good time reenacting the movie while we were down by the water.  We have officially found a puffin tour for tomorrow to be able to conquer the impervious task of seeing a frickin puffin.  My dreams are about to come true tomorrow.  Peace
