Iceland May 23rd 2022
Day two has come upon us and immediately started with complaints of a wet bathroom and clothes that haven't been washed in 3 weeks. Due to the professionalism of this blogger names are not stated but the person of interest couldn't hear me when I suggested we wait one day until we get to a place with laundry. We started off the morning with a beautiful yet sketchy hike through a rocky valley that had been carved out by the river. We climbed up one of the grassy hills to see the fall from a different angle.
Iceland may as well be called the country of running water as I have never been to a place where there are 20-meter waterfalls at every street corner. Wherever you drive you can see giant waterfalls coming over the side of the never-ending cliffs. As we drove on we stopped at a thermal bath. This thing was in a funny spot as we drove ten minutes down a poorly maintained dirt road and walked between two massive rock mountains to a little cement tub from the 1920s. Boiling hot water fell from the sides of the cliff into the hot bath and we were surrounded by views of the snow-covered peaks from all angles. Both me and Lachlan pulled some psychopathic Whistler person stuff by jumping from the glacier river water into the hot baths. It was a painful experience but refreshing in the end. We continued on to see another giant waterfall and also see a part of a glacier. The country continues to show how beautiful it is with the sheer volume of mountains, waterfalls and endless grasslands to amaze you. Not to mention rental cars come with complimentary wifi with unlimited data. All equally awesome. We arrived in Vik tonight going for dinner at a cute little diner. It seems that we will be on an Iceland burger tour as well as sightseeing as it is the food of choice for all the restaurants we have visited so far. On to Hof tomorrow so that means more driving and listening to "suggestions" from the others for yours truly. Cheers
